We’ve all been there before. Stuck with a heaping pile of last season’s trends after a closet cleaning, trapped with trash bags full of used clothing from reorganizing our attic, and a few leftover boxes from a less than successful yard sale.
The easiest way to get rid of this mess is give it to a thrift store right? You help out a charity, others can benefit from your donation, and you can finally see your bedroom floor.
You have good intentions. But before you start driving to your nearest thrift store, rethink what assumptions you have about what runs a secondhand clothing shop.
There’s thousands of indie designers and brands tearing up the fashion world with their distinctive detailing and innovative methods of creating ethical clothing. If you need help wading through the internets, I did all the dirty work for you and I’m reporting for duty.
Reporting the latest mens’/womens’ runway trends for spring, here are the must-have tops you need to blossom into spring (minus the florals).
This is the first part of the ongoing series: Ecofriendly for Every Element
Not every action needs to be big in order to be meaningful. Every step you take to help the Earth spin a little more peacefully is a meaningful step. I’ve given you some tips before about alternative places to donate your clothing and the beginner’s guide to ethical fashion. If you’ve read those handy posts before, you’re ready for more steps.
When you save water, you help save the world, and a pretty penny in your pocket. For my first part of my new series, here are 10 easy ecofriendly changes to conserve water everyday. Earth, our oceans, and all of it’s inhabitants thank you for the effort.
Are there any useful tips I missed? I wanna hear from you, comment below.
If you’re shopping for your alluring lover who feels strong and sexy wearing lace and mesh, I got a gift guide for that. But what if your beau feels sexy in other ways? In the bedroom, gym, and beyond, they prefer their bootys with a bit more coverage (there’s no doubt they pull it off flawlessly). And when they strut their stuff in a sports bra (and looks damn good in it too!)
Lovingly made by indie designers that understand how to make your bae comfy, here are heyjustjei’s top Valentine’s Day picks for every andro’s underthings.
Canada is well-known for our love of poutine, hockey, and great manners (thanks for thinking of us). We may not be the first country you think of for sensual lingerie, but these designers will prove that our lingerie can be just as sweet as our maple syrup.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, you still have some time to order some decadent lingerie for your someone special. Your beau might appreciate these beautifully made intimates by these skilled Canadian designers.
But romantic lingerie is one of those gifts you absolutely don’t buy without consulting your giftee! Picking out something together is just half the fun, sit down together and enjoy a feast for your eyes (and the senses).

Welcome to the second part of the new series, #ASKHJJ where I turn to you readers to ask those burning questions that you need the answers to! Ask me by FB, IG, email, or comment right below to inspire the next #ASKHJJ.
If you followed any of my gift guides during the holiday season, you’ve probably seen one of my popular gift guide, unique leather gifts! You probably thought it was unusual, if not morally questionable, that I would suggest leather goods but not discuss the ethical discourse surrounding it.
Leather isn’t as black and white as the controversial cows it originates from, the issue may be more complicated than you think.
Did you know I’ve always wanted to do a section on HJJ where I review beauty products? I’m constantly on a search for the next best facial cleanser, a non-problematic sunscreen, or soothing face mask that won’t burn my face.
Problem? I find that despite that I invest in products that are labelled “for sensitive skin” or “dermatologist tested”, everything makes me break out or causes my skin to burn. I’ve flushed so much money down the drain on products that did more damage than good, I’m sure you’ve had a similar experience or two.
After some research, I learned some important lessons that everyone whose interested in beauty products should know, sensitive-skin or not. This could help you save your money on claims that just aren’t true.
The New Year is often a time for people to self-reflect and grow. It’s a time for open minds to learn new things, crafty hands to practice a new skill, and maybe check a thing or two off the new bucket list.
If you need some ideas and inspiration, HJJ has 5 ideas to try for the New Year.
I’m very excited to introduce my new ethical series, #AskHJJ! Readers can submit their questions to me via email, Facebook, or Instagram. Once a month on my social media, I’ll put out a post where you can ask me questions of ethical things you’re curious about, or simply use the #AskHJJ.
I began talking about ethical fashion on here as a way of educating my friends (plus you), so it only felt appropriate the first questions come from them!
It isn’t easy buying gifts for your socially conscious friends. You can’t run to the local mall any old gift with mysterious origins. I know these struggles. You both mean well, but wires can get crossed.
Communication is key, talk to your friends about what ethical direction they want to move into. Suggest any of these alternative gifts to them, and you’ll surely warm their hearts (without stepping on any toes).
